Click here for more information on ArtLoveMagic’s UNDERGROUND
This article takes a deeper look at some of the artists you will find this Saturday at Underground. Please take a moment to read the brief description about the artists. I’ve asked them to tell me alittle about their art and what inspires them. Also, what does Underground mean to them.
GOAT is one of the musical performers at Underground

GOAT relates these feeling to his music, “I’m the illegitimate child of promiscuous genres. I represent The Intelligent South – soulful indie music, melodic and insightful lyrics, live instrumentation with a homegrown feel” He goes on to say, “My inspiration comes from one simple thought, the rest comes to me in pieces and I take notes on myself. Then I try to fit those pieces together, which sometimes comes easily and sometimes takes more effort.”
GOAT is a co-producer of ArtLoveMagic’s Underground and he says, “Underground is a chance to showcase and uncover some of the best, but undiscovered talent in Dallas. It’s about unification, networking, sharing the love you have for your art, and experiencing new things that you may not have been aware of.”
GOAT is a recognized talent throughout Dallas. PegasusNews.com states, “Each of his songs takes on its own distinct flavor, pulling from varied musical and lyrical sources.” When writing, GOAT is a focused musician carefully crafting each phrase to perfection. On stage, he immediately attracts his audience with an inviting, endless energy. Check out his website and “like” his Facebook page today.
After Underground you can find the CYPHER; the massive collaborative song performed by over 15 different artists at www.musicbygoat.bandcamp.com

Patricia Rodriguez, featured artist at Underground
Patrica’s art in it’s rawest form is acrylic paint on vinyl records and canvases. Here she describes her muse, “Most of my inspiration comes from Nature and the natural world, also music and general life. I believe life should be spent creating and giving back, especially if you are an artist, because you have a talent that not everyone has.”
I asked Patricia why she is so excited about Underground. She said, “I’m looking forward to Underground because I think there is an energy that art provides, especially when it is being created and it feeds other creative spirits if they tap into it. I am looking forward to feeling like a part of an energetic community of creators and excited to see fresh art being made in front of my eyes.”

Sarah Zamora, featured artist at Underground

Sarah says,” While I do paint some pieces in a more straightforward method using only acrylics, I’ve created a unique method for mixed media that defines my style. My current work is in this combination of acrylics, various inks, mica pigments, watercolors, spray paint, found papers and objects, and upcycled ephemera. Each piece uses layers of textures and paints to highlight or disguise common images and items, creating a sense of discovery for the viewer. I want the intrigue of my work to last beyond an initial impression, for those engaged with the piece to see more and more hidden with in the piece they closer they get to it.”
Sarah says, “Underground is a monumental event created by artists to celebrate artists, events like Underground are unique experiences into the heart of the DFW art scene. This event, for one night, brings out the flesh and blood and heart of passionate artists in our community, any mask of traditional gallery fine art is stripped away and you are exposed to the truth of the person behind the canvas, and invited to engage with them as they create freely.” Well said Sarah, I can’t agree with you more.
You can find her work on her Facebook Page and website.
Ashley Jones, featured artist at Underground
Ashley is a woman of few words. She gets right to the point. “CrashAlter is all original, one of a kind, hand made pieces of art. I take old finds…and give them new life by turning them into one of a kind, hand-made, original pieces.”
Ashley gives her take on Underground, “it’s where Dallas’s most talented up and coming artists and veteran artists intermingle and connect with the public in effort to break down the barriers between the art, artists and the audience. It is an ultimate sensory overload that leaves you with greatest natural high you will ever experience.” Ashley is preaching to the choir. I couldn’t agree more.
